Tour: On the trail of the Roman’s and Moor’s

We visit Paderne’s 18th century town well at a leisurely Donkey pace. We follow the lush river to the water mill of the Ribeira de Quarteira. The dreamy relics are still used as a traditional water mill today.

We continue down to a medieval bridge that was built on Roman foundations. It was restored in 1771 and is still functional today.

Up a tiny hill, we ride to the historical castle “Castelo de Paderne”. It is one of the seven castles pictured on Portugal’s flag. Constructed by the Moors, it is part of Portugal’s cultural heritage. The beautiful coastal views allow for a relaxing picnic. Afterwards we walk through orange and olive groves to get back to the sanctuary.

Program

• Pick up at the meeting point at Paderne’s football stadium.
• Get together with a Welcome drink and an initial briefing.
• A quick induction with the donkeys.
• Getting ready to go – we get the donkeys ready.
• The laidback excursion begins.
• We stop for delicious picnic at an idyllic location.
• We arrive at the donkey farm and feed our furry companions
• Swimming in a natural pool (optional)
• Transfer back to the meeting point
